Valjevo
Valjevo is located in western Serbia, at the heart of the Kolubara District, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Medvednik, Jablanik, Povlen, Maljen, and Suvobor. It serves as the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the Kolubara District and is a key driver of regional development. Valjevo is considered one of the larger and more developed urban areas in Serbia. According to the 2022 census, the city has a population of 82,169, while the Kolubara District is home to approximately 155,000 people.
Its proximity to major transportation routes, potential tourist markets, and its rich cultural heritage concentrated in a relatively small area—blending seamlessly into attractive natural landscapes such as the Gradac River Gorge, Jablanica, and the Valjevo mountains—along with numerous monasteries and a significant number of notable historical figures from the region, as well as events tied to national history, have allowed Valjevo to stand out as an authentic destination.
